1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Digital400 (PVT) LTD (“Digital400”, “we”, “us” or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website at https://digital400.com/ (the “Website”). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we process personal data more generally and which forms part of the same set of privacy documents.
Digital400 is a private limited company incorporated in Sri Lanka. This Policy is provided in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022 of Sri Lanka (the “PDPA”). Where cookies or similar technologies collect information that identifies you or relates to an identifiable individual, that information is personal data and is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the PDPA.
2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet or mobile) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to make them more efficient, and to provide information to the website operator and third parties.
We also use similar tracking technologies that perform comparable functions, including pixels (also called tags or web beacons), software development kits, local storage, and scripts embedded by third-party services. In this Policy, references to “cookies” include these similar technologies.
Cookies may be “session” cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or “persistent” cookies, which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them. Cookies may be set by us (“first-party” cookies) or by third parties whose services appear on the Website (“third-party” cookies).
3. How and Why We Use Cookies
We use cookies to operate and secure the Website, to remember your preferences, to understand how visitors use the Website so that we can improve it, and to support our marketing and advertising. Some cookies are strictly necessary for the Website to function, while others are used only with your consent.
We treat all cookies that are not strictly necessary — including analytics, advertising and certain functional cookies — as requiring your opt-in consent, which we obtain through our cookie banner before those cookies are set.
4. Categories of Cookies We Use
We group the cookies and tracking technologies we use into the following categories:
(a) Strictly necessary / essential.
These cookies are required for the Website to function properly and securely. They enable core functionality such as page navigation, security, load balancing and remembering your cookie consent choices. The Website cannot function properly without these cookies, and they do not require consent.
(b) Analytics / performance.
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Website by collecting and reporting information such as pages visited, time on site and navigation paths, generally on an aggregated basis. We use them to measure and improve Website performance. These cookies are set only with your consent.
(c) Advertising / targeting.
These cookies and pixels are used to deliver advertising that is more relevant to you, to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns, and to support remarketing across third-party platforms. They are typically set by third-party advertising partners. These cookies are set only with your consent.
(d) Functional.
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalisation, such as live chat, embedded videos and maps, and remembering choices you make. Some functional cookies are set by third parties whose content we embed. Non-essential functional cookies are set only with your consent.
5. Specific Tools We Use
The table below lists the specific tools and technologies we use on the Website, the category into which each falls, its purpose, and an indication of the typical type and duration of the cookies involved. 6. Consent and Managing Your Preferences
When you first visit the Website, we present a cookie banner that allows you to accept or reject non-essential cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are set automatically because they are required for the Website to function. All other cookies — analytics, advertising and non-essential functional cookies — are set only after you give your opt-in consent.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by reopening the cookie settings via the cookie banner or preference tool on the Website. Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal.
In addition to our cookie banner, most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings, including blocking or deleting cookies. Please note that if you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Website may not function properly. Information about managing cookies in common browsers is generally available within each browser’s help function.
7. Third-Party and Overseas Data Transfers
Many of the tools listed above are provided by third parties based outside Sri Lanka. When these cookies and technologies are active, information about your device and your use of the Website (including your IP address and usage data) may be collected by those third parties and transferred to, stored in, or accessed from countries outside Sri Lanka.
Where such transfers involve personal data for which we are responsible, we take steps to ensure they comply with the PDPA and are subject to appropriate safeguards, as described in our Privacy Policy. The third-party providers process data collected through their tools in accordance with their own privacy and cookie policies, which we encourage you to review.
8. Relationship with Our Privacy Policy
This Cookie Policy supplements and forms part of our Privacy Policy. For full details of how we process personal data, the lawful bases we rely on, your rights under the PDPA, and how to contact us or lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority of Sri Lanka, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies and technologies we use or in applicable law. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this Policy. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
